An Open Letter To Our Fellow Countrymen and Brothers

in the AFP, PNP and CAFGU

Our nation at present reflects the kind of soldiers we have become. Like the majority of the Filipino people, we, the officers and men of the AFP, PNP and CAFGU are being subjected to an oppressive and degrading life. Our meager salary cannot meet our family's basic necessities of everyday living. We cannot afford to give our children quality education. We cannot even own a decent shelter. And worse, along with the small salary that we earn, the benefits that we justly deserve for our honest service to the state are being stolen from us. Our deteriorating living condition is but a reflection of the oppression and the deplorable state the Filipino people living under the Arroyo government and the current political and economic system.

We, who should be the defenders and protectors of this beloved nation and its people are being used by the corrupt and power-hungry leaders of this government for their own interest. We are being diverted away from our principal duty of enforcing the law and maintaining peace. Many people now perceive us as defenders of corruption and deception by the highest officials who make a mockery of the very democratic process we have been sworn to defend. No wonder many consider us as enemies of our own countrymen. The Arroyo regime and its high ranking officials even ordered some of us into committing heinous crimes against the people we ought to protect.

For allowing themselves to be used by Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in deceiving the people and tampering with the results of the 2004 elections under our very noses, some of our highest ranking officers now feed greedily from the hands of those in Malacañang. PGMA and her cohorts have been dishing out billions of pesos worth of bulk deals and contracts as rewards for their loyalty cutting down the funds for our operations, supplies and benefits.

We are tired of the promises of increase in salary and pension, fed up with the scandals involving the military in the 2004 election fraud, and sick with the looting of funds, contracts and the soldier's savings in the AFP and PNP by our own generals. We are outraged by the immoral and unjust promotions and designations of the "favorite" officers and relatives of those high ranking officials. What is even more loathsome is the involvement and the protection given by Malacañang and their favorite generals to the criminal syndicates of illegal gambling, illegal drugs, bank robbery, kidnapping, illegal logging, smuggling, carnapping and other crimes.

We attest to the direct responsibility of the President and the leading agencies of Malacañang and their minions in the AFP and the PNP in ordering the extrajudicial killings to decimate the ranks of progressive mass leaders, activists, media critics, opposition leaders and professionals who are actively calling for her ouster. They are also responsible for the surveillance and harassment of those in the opposition, violent dispersal of peaceful rallies and demonstrations and the imprisonment of their leaders. We have come to know all these because the officers and men who were ordered to commit these crimes are from our own ranks.

The leaders and activists that our officers are ordering us to kidnap, torture and murder are legitimately airing their grievances. The victims of these heinous crimes are well-meaning unarmed civilians: workers, farmers, priests, teachers, lawyers, journalists and others who are fighting and defending their rights and even our own interests. They are not armed rebels. But why are we ordered by our officers to aim and fire our guns at them?

We, the men of the AFP and the PNP are being ordered to guard the gates of power where corrupt officials reside. We are the last line of defense of Malacañang. We are being used as shield against the legitimate actions and demands of our people. We are the power sustaining the Arroyo government so she could continue her fake, rotten, deceitful and oppressive rule.

Many of us have already started their active stand against the Arroyo regime. Since 2003, many groups have surfaced and courageously fought and protested against this corrupt government. They have sided with us and our people. They have spoken and took actions against the unjust orders. Yet, for taking into their hearts their oath of service and the interest of the people, they are being persecuted, imprisoned, deprived of their rights, and are treated like animals.

Let us resist the orders of our superiors to use us in their war against our people. Let us support the call for genuine peace and justice and open our doors for talks and negotiations with the groups taking up arms against this oppressive government. Let us work for a genuine and lasting peace..

We call upon all the patriotic men and women from the AFP and the PNP from all over the country to stand up and be counted. It is about time that we end our silence. Let us help in exposing the corruption and crimes committed in the highest levels of our organizations. Let us join ranks with the different patriotic movement within the AFP and PNP, organize clandestine networks, and unite with the people. Together, let us fight alongside the different patriotic and progressive organizations and individuals for a truly sovereign, democratic, peaceful, and prosperous nation. It is our only way of regaining our dignity.

It is the only way that the AFP and PNP could be truly reformed. It is the only way that the AFP and PNP could really perform its mandated task to serve the nation and its people.

The solution to our problems and that of the whole nation is, and will remain unattainable under the Arroyo government and the rotten system it represents. Let us unite with the majority of the Filipino people in ousting the Arroyo government in order to attain liberty, democracy and prosperity!

Let us fight for our rights and those of our fellow officers and soldiers!

Let us unite and fight for the interest of our people!

Stand against the anti-people orders!

Oust the illegitimate, corrupt, oppressive and rotten Arroyo government!

Workers and soldiers unite for system change

The revolutionary workers welcome the establishment of the Sundalo website as an expression of ardent desire among officers and soldiers for real change in the rotten system. The militant workers will extend their hand of solidarity to activist elements in the military and call on them to unite with the masses in a common fight for system change through the establishment of a transitional revolutionary government.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong for officers and soldiers to involve in politics; it all depends on the type of politics. On one hand, it is a good thing for young officers and rank-and-file soldiers to protest wrongdoing in the military and in government, and advocate real reforms through organized action.

On the other hand, it is a high crime for ranking generals to manipulate elections on the behest of an ambitious incumbent president. It is entirely hypocritical for the top AFP generals to call on the military to abstain from political involvement even as they sit on an investigation of generals implicated in the Gloriagate scandal.

The various groups within the military that have been talking politics and organizing meetings should continue with their criticism of corruption within their institution and society in general. Moreover, they must forge links of cooperation and coordination with people’s organizations in order to build a united front for system change. In the period of the lull before the storm that the country is passing through, activist soldiers have three important tasks—to organize, organize and organize.

Through the leadership of activist groups within the military, the workers and the poor expect that officers and soldiers will resist being used against the mass movement and will oppose attempts by ambitious generals to grab power for themselves or another trapo. At the opportune moment, on the eve of the new people’s uprising against the GMA regime, the officers and soldiers must break the chain of command and defect to the side of the masses.

Partido ng Manggagawang Pilipino (PMP)

The Partido ng Manggagawang Pilipino (PMP) is the merger party formed in the unity congress held August 2002 of the Partido ng Manggagawang Pilipino, Sosyalistang Partido ng Paggawa and Partido Proletaryo Demokratiko, which compose the majority of the Rejectionists that split from the Communist Party of the Philippines in repudiation of Stalinism and Maoism. The name PMP was retained as a tribute to Felimon "Popoy" Lagman, the founding general-secretary of the old PMP.

I have gone over the details of the profiles of the generals, colonels and etc. who have spoken the truth but incarcerated by the present dispensation. These are good and brave men who have potentials to be good leader of our country if given the proper support and opportunity. They are the leaders who are needed by our government which is currently run by thieves and corrupt officials including those in the congress. They are the best alternatives to the present dispensation.

But the question is who amoung them would be the best to be presented as our next leader who could unify our country? As mentioned in one of your articles, the politcal opposition has provided not an alternative leader to replace the incumbent leadership and an alternative program of government. Could you among yourselves the "tagapagtanggol", for the sake of our country and young blood generation, unite and solidify your effort to come up with an alternative strong leader who is dynamic, God-fearing, pragmatic, honest, morally strong character. Most of the good generals/officers who are incarcerated by the incumbent government have all the qualities as I made mentioned. You need to move now. We, from the middle and low bracket income group has suffered a lot. . .

We are absorber of the kapalpakan ng kasalukuyang liderato at iyong mga batas na pinasa na kongreso, isa nito iyong Expanded EVAT Law. Sabi nila noon, the implementation of the said law won't affect the common tao. . . and yet if you go to the market and groceries. . . you have prices that are beyond the reach of our income. Gasoline, diesel and fuel prices going up every week. Ano ang ginagawa ng gobyereno natin? Wala. . .

Mga kapatid na sa inyo ang military might . . . you have to move now and put an end to this corrupt government. But when you do something, be sure it should be done in proper coordination of the different sectors of the society who are up there who would like also to remove the queen from the palace. . . Kung magkakaisa tayong lahat . . well coordinated ang plan of action then, there is strength and not even the power of the tutas of the queen from the corrupt AFP and PNP won't much your power if you remain united and solid in your stand.

Just remember the walis tingting . . . kung nag-iisa lang madaling mabali pero pagsasamahin mo lahat . . . nandoon ang lakas . . di

mababali.

I know you are God fearing guys and whatever action you do won't sacrifice innocent lives. . . You have to value life . . .

I'm a former Marine Officer who left the service in 1984 disgruntled as you are of too much corruption and politicking. Gen Gudani was my immediate senior officer but I remember Col. Quiruben as my junior. Anyway, I'm now based in Houston, Texas and in constant touch with the latest developments in my dear  native land, the Philippines. I'm now a U.S. citizen but my heart and sould is still with you guys, reformists in the military. I admire you Gen. Dan Lim for your courage and firmness in fighting the evils of society. I'm very proud of  you, comrade!!!

I'm here for any kind of support.

Mabuhay kayo, mga tunay na bayani ng Pilipinas!!!

I am from the labor sector and I am the president of a national labor union. any info/update you want from the labor movement, just ask. for starters, revolutions are made by people with arms. Bonifacio had to take up arms in the fight against colonialism.

So did Gregorio del Pilar, Antonio Luna, Aguinaldo, Malvar and Sakay. They were the first soldiers of the people, all of them turned generals in the crucible of war. From our soldiers today will rise generals, leading the people towards liberation.

Mabuhay ang mga Sundalong Tagapagtanggol ng Pilipino!Mabuhay ang Mamamayang Pilipino!

i salute to all of you out there.

the real thing that continuously fail the opposition of GMA is not the issue but the divided opposition. without any united opposition, everything are doomed to failure. ok, i believe on your issues, they are genuine and most people outside the admin of GMA are exasperated with the tyranny occuring every second of the clock, day in-day out. but we could do nothing without any unity. so we just watch these things go by....waiting for a hint of unity.

in the past, under pres. marcos, everybody is united under the cause of ousting the late ex-pres. ..which then grab the oppurtunity to unite under pres. cory aquino. in the past, under pres. estrada, the opposition place their bet behind GMA, including the congress and the SC headed by davide. the failure was that GMA turned out to be a tyrant of the worst kind. but still, i consider her to be a boba. her fears are now being used by somebody to make her act madly. she know, and we know that she would have to go, sooner or later, of course the sooner the better. and she would have to pay for her heinous crimes after that. that is her fear, that make her more frightened to leave the palace power.

ok, let us go back to unity, who would be the leader? i am only going under the leadership of Sen. Lacson. He is the only one currently having the moral integrity, capability, and political will to change the government for the better. i could not see any other man today who is more capable, untainted character, knowledgeable, young and willing to lead the nation.

now, the thing is that a part of the opposition wanted another man, and another part again also wanted another. do you see what i mean? everybody in the opposition wanted his own leader. we are just a bunch of fools without thinking for the good of the whole country, but for ourselves only. CRAB MENTALITY?

the enemy will just sweep us in the dustbin of history, all efforts, ideals, life, courage, and future wasted.

suggestion: scrutinized Sen. Lacson, his life, his carreer, his vision, his works. then look and scrutinize your presidential bet, then decide who get the plus points. i bet it would be Sen. lacson. so let us choose wisely, even from friends or foe, we ride on the same ship, and the pilot of that ship should be an able man even from your foe, not a friend who would bring us on the bottom of the sea.

to the real protectors of the filipino people,

we salute you and you are our heroes not the likes of superiors who have been corrupted by the system of gloria and his cohorts. we, the citizenry are just waiting for you to lead us and we will be with you when the fight is there. we have to remove these corrupt generals and corrupt government officials so that we the filipino people will benefit from the hard earned money we pay in our taxes. its time for you to act now and please be united as one so that we will just be fighting one enemy. we hope that there will be real reform this time unlike what happen in edsa 86 where the people installed are just as power hungry and have enriched themselves. let us help one another our protectors. God bless us all!

Good Day. I congratulate you for the website you created for the true soldiers of the Filipino people. Before anything else, I would like to introduce myself, I am 36 years old and a working professional. You can just call me DERF and you can count me in as one of the avid supporters of Gen. Lim, Gen. Miranda, Col. Querbuin, Lt. Col. Parcon, Major Aquino, the Magdalo Group-Trillanes Faction, among others. Sila ang mga tunay na sundalong Pilipino.

I am proud to inform you that I was one of the few civilians who were at the Marine Headquarters on Feb. 24,2006 when Col. Querubin protested the relief of Gen. Miranda. Compared with the likes of Lawyers JV Bautista and Argee Guevarra and Director Siguion Reyna who are known public figures, I am just an ordinary citizen who offered to help the embattled Marine Colonel

during that crucial day. Together with about 200 civilians, we supported Col. Querubin and even bodily shielded him during the crucial hours of that day. Akala ko po, tayo'y magtatagumpay na but somehow along the way, it did not happen. But, nonetheless, ako ay umaasa pa din na tayo ay magtatagumpay. I fully support all the brave men and women of the Philippine Marines and the Scout Rangers, two of the best fighting units of our AFP.

Kudos also to the PNP Special Action Force, other units of the Navy, ARmy and Air Force, who I think silently support their embattled comrades-in-arms.

Unlike some of top brass of the AFP such as Esperon, De los Reyes, Tolentino and Palparan who I consider as GMA's cheer leaders , people like General Miranda, Gen Lim, Colonels Querbuin, Parcon, Seguilian and young officers such as Maj Aquino, Capt. Guinolbay , Ltsg Trillanes, Capt. Faeldon should be emulated by the present members of the AFP. They are the true officers and gentlemen of the AFP.

To Gen. Miranda, I support you and may God bless you. I am proud to say that I was one of the few people composed mostly of mediamen who were allowed entry to your office during that Sunday night. I admire your simplicity and candidness when the mediamen were interviewing you. We need more Generals like you in the military. To Col. Querubin and Gen. Lim, I admire you and may your tribe increase.

More power to the Marines ,the Scout Rangers and the other units of the AFP who support genuine change in our government. Mabuhay po kayo.

Mabuhay ang Sundalong Pilipino.

Reform soldiers’ info war

If Gloria Arroyo’s regime thinks that its news blackout on the February “withdrawal of support” incident is achieving its goal of keeping the public in the dark, then it is grossly mistaken. The military reformist underground movement is waging a continuing struggle to unmask the uncouth, unprofessional, un-Filipino conduct of Arroyo’s Generals Esperon, Tolentino, Calderon and others who are committing insulting and demeaning treatment of gentleman officers such as Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim and other officers and men of the Army Ranger units.

We have been carefully studying the Web site www.sundalo.bravehost.com and withholding our judgment on whether the site is legitimate or a reverse psychological warfare ploy of the allegedly corrupt generals collaborating with the Arroyo regime. We observed the site with an open mind despite our co-journalist from Malaya Ellen Tordesillas’ comment that noted hints of a pro-government slant in the reference to officials government reports on the various cases facing the “conscientious objectors” groups in the AFP, but after the recent new postings I am more convinced that the site is genuine.

The recent postings are exposing the real and humiliating conditions Gloria’s Esperon is imposing on the honorable Gen. Danilo Lim’s detention. Take this report, “Detained Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim is isolated from the rest of the other Scout Ranger officers detained in Camp Capinpin. His detention facilities offered neither electricity nor water during his first days. He was detained even before the charges have been formally filed.”

I think any citizen or soldier reading this will be filled with revulsion over the way Lim is being treated.

The report goes farther in describing with explicit detail the inhumanity Esperon is allegedly committing against some of the best young officers in our Armed Forces such as Scout Rangers Maj. Oriel Pangcog and Maj. Jason Aquino who, from what we recall, is a class topnotcher in the academy. The Web site reports that “Scout Rangers Maj. Oriel Pangcog and Maj. Jason Aquino are kept in concrete solitary confinements, small ‘bartolina’ rooms with no windows, only a small bulb. Major Aquino spent four months in the stockade.”

Esperon is trying to do to them what he did to Lt. San Juan.

There is also a most interesting report on the Web site entitled “Special Ops: Magdalo Navy vs Magdalo Army then, Scout Rangers vs Marines now:” how the Isafp has been engineering “divide and conquer” strategies and how the corrupt military authorities have used incentives (also readable as “bribes”) to pry a few from their convictions and commitments to the higher cause they swore to when they joined the military movement for reform of the institutions. It is absolutely imperative reading for those who want to understand the struggle within.

Here is a sample from that report: “The Magdalo split was engineered by the Isafp. It was a special project intentionally conceptualized and implemented by one of Isafp’s colonel officers. It was started by the introduction of religious preachers. From among the detainees who exhibited positive response, moderates have been chosen from the defiant ones. Incidentally, the moderates come from the Army, while the hardliners come from the Navy and Marines. Inter-branch of service rivalry was used to ignite antagonism.

“The group of Army Captains Gerry Gambala and Miles Maestrecampo were then given some privileges and leeway. They were even allowed to go malling and to pursue higher studies. On the other hand, rules and regulations were strictly enforced on the group of Navy Lt. S/G Antonio Trillanes and James Layug…Scout Ranger officers accused of being involved in the February plot were immediately detained even though charges have not yet been filed against them. They are kept in solitary confinement. The detention facilities do not meet the minimum living condition, and food is scarce.

“The Marine officers, who were also accused of being involved, on the other hand, are spared of detention with only Col. Ariel Querubin being restricted within his quarters and Maj. Gen. Renato Miranda being just under the custody of Navy Chief Vice Adm. Mateo Mayuga. Double standard?

Nope, this is special ops!...” But these special ops will backfire as the officers and soldiers see through the ploy and focus on the injustice they are all being made to suffer, and the dehumanization of their human dignity and their human relationships with their fellow “officers and gentlemen.”

I am sorry to hear of this kind of injustice the Philippine military is imposing on its soldiers just because it is now headed by paid mercenaries calling themselves generals. What a crap indeed!

I work for the court in Japan as an interpreter and I have never heard of this kind of injustice of anyone getting incarcerated WITHOUT any charge, nor of people under custody being deprived of their human right to see their lawyers, nor of their lawyers being implicated in the charges against them even when they try to escape, see and consult their lawyers, who are not bound by law to reveal to the investigators unless under oath in the court to tell ONLY the important things that may help free their clients.

Apparently, this kind of injustice happens only in the Philippines under a government headed by a criminal, who has violated even the Constitution of the land when she planned the removal of a duly elected president, who was in fact still undergoing due process of law.

Now, as soldiers of the land, and with you pledging to uphold truth and right in defending your country, just what exactly do you plan to do about the present situation that the Philippines is headed by a criminal, or to say it mildly, by a criminally inclined who rule the country Mafia style?

Frankly, where I come from the soldiers are limited to defending the country against enemies from the outside, not fellow Japanese unlike in the Philippines, where the criminal who now leads it can have the nerve to order shoot to kill Filipinos regardless of whether or not they are terrorists, who should in fact be under the jurisdiction of the police.

Over in Japan, there is a big difference in the function of the police and the military, which are under two different agencies, and not even complicating one another except perhaps in times of natural calamities as when there is a massive earthquake and the police takes care of maintaining peace and order while the military helps in distributing relief goods and rescuing people buried in rubbles with the firemen.

Our police, military and courts are not even under the control of the Prime Minister of Japan, to whom they do not pledge allegiance but to the country, and the people who pay their bills!!!

Frankly, it is very disappointing to hear of the graft and corruption in the military and demoralization of the Philippine soldiers. Just think of what will happen to the country should the Chinese or even the US dare to attack the Philippines. Will the Philippine soldiers gallantly defend the country the way the soldiers of WWII did against all odds?

Anong ginagawa ninyo? Nakatunganga lang? Are you just there doing the same diversion and pastime of the crooks in Malacanang pretending to do their duties and responsibilities but are in fact just trying to control virtually via propaganda the Philippines and the Filipinos with the tips of their fingers tapping their keyboards in front of their computers?

How pathetic indeed! I feel sorry for the land of my birth and the cowards who cannot have the balls to kick out a Midget with a coconut for a head!!!

Manduduro lang!

I don't know what this can have upon you, but let me leave this quote from the Bible about courage in the hope that this will give you the inspiration to do what is right and effective: "Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. • • • Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." (Josh. 1: 6-7, 9)

God bless you all with wisdom, courage and faith in God and in what He can do for your cause if you are indeed the defenders of freedom you claim to be.
